How to properly paste wallpaper on the ceiling: the necessary tools and procedures
Only 15-20 years ago, the only possible option for decorating the ceiling was considered whitewash on top of the plaster. Now everyone can original decorate the top of the room, if they know how to glue wallpaper on the ceiling correctly. The material can be purchased in different versions. It can be embossed vinyl, non-woven, fiberglass, for painting, or paper wallpaper for ceilings. Pasting with wallpaper is a less laborious and more "clean" option for decorating the ceiling than, for example, installing gypsum plasterboard ceilings with their subsequent puttying and painting.
Pasting the ceiling with wallpaper: basic rules
Prepare for safe work convenient woods for the height of their growth or ladder of a ladder, which is transformed into a scaffold. Also, you should prepare a roller or a wide brush for glue, a rubber roller for leveling the wallpaper.
If you want to get a high-quality result, the surface must be prepared. If there are serious irregularities, it is recommended to make a layer of gypsum board that will become a solid and comfortable base. It is not recommended to use wallpaper, which glue butt and were not pre-plucked. Joints can disperse, and this will catch your eye.
It is advisable, before gluing them, to prime the surface with an acrylic primer. Toga they will be better glued. The acrylic primer dries very quickly and eliminates the appearance of yellow spots. If you will glue the wallpaper for painting, there is no need to spread the canvas with glue, just apply it to the surface of the ceiling. Smooth them with a rubber roller, moving from the center to the edges of the fabric. If you use wallpaper that you need to pre-impregnate with glue, keep the adhesive on the wallpaper for no more than 10 minutes, otherwise the embossing may break, and the fabric may tear.
Before you glue the first cloth, mark the straight first line. This can easily be done with a cord colored with chalk. If at the gluing of the first strip some part of the wallpaper hits the wall, it's not terrible, because the excess can be cut off with a clerical knife or hide a defect with the help of special curbs that will decorate your ceiling.
How to glue wallpapers on the ceiling: a description of the process
The first line is marked at a distance of 50 cm from the wall. After marking two points and attaching a marking cord, beat off the line.
Prepare the glue. It should be a little thicker than for wallpapering the walls. Consider the weight of the wallpaper: the heavier the glue, the thicker the glue.
It is recommended to cut the cloth 8 cm longer than the width of the room, so that the ends of the cloth slightly went to the walls.
If necessary, glue the finished strip of wallpaper with glue and fold it with "accordion". Fold 1/3 of the folded strip to the middle.
The first strip is glued along the marked line. First they are pressed down by hands, and then smoothed out with a brush or a special rubber roller. Well, if you have a grooved roller for seams. If you walk them on the seam, the joint will be invisible.
If glue comes out from under the cloth, blot it with a cotton rag. When they dry up, the projected ends are cut with a clerical knife.
