Crafts in the form of roosters

Crafts in the form of cocks made by themselves will be relevant not only for the holidays in the New Year 2017, but every year for Easter. And without them it's simply impossible to imagine an interior in the style of Provence, country or rustic. In this article we presented 6 step-by-step master classes, how to make cute crafts in the form of cocks for decorating a house, a Christmas tree or a festive table from improvised and even junk materials.

Master class 1. Candy in the form of a cock

Looking at this elegant candy bar, it's hard to imagine that it can be made with your own hands, and even from ... cardboard boxes for eggs. In fact, to make such a handsome man it will not take a lot of time, nor the artist-sculptor's skills. By the way, most of the work can even be done by a child, so it's a great idea for a New Year's craft for a school or kindergarten.

Candy in the form of a cock

Such a sweetie you can decorate the festive table and surprise your guests. However, it can be filled not only with sweets, but with tangerines, small presents for competitions, and notes with predictions. And the cockerel can be put under the tree together with the gift

Materials:

  • 7 packs for a dozen eggs;
  • Scissors;
  • Acrylic paints and brushes;
  • Hot glue gun;
  • Glue PVA (not less than 250 g);
  • Balloon;
  • Old newspapers;
  • White paper.

Instruction:

Step 1. Cut out the cones, located in the middle of the tray, then cut their side panels into petals-feathers. Each cone should have 4 feathers.

  • Cones for egg tray
  • Tray for eggs

Next cut each cone between the two petals to the very bottom as shown in the photo below.

Step 2. Now we need to make head and throat billets according to the principle of increasing the feathers to the cones: the head will consist of 5 feathers, the second cone (throat) - of 6 feathers, the third cone - of 8, the fourth - out of 10, the fifth - out of 12 feathers. Finally, make the sixth workpiece, but already in the form of a fan of 8 feathers, and not in the form of a cone, since this part will cover the beginning of the back. To increase the feathers, use adhesive tape, gluing it from the inside of the blanks.

Step 3. While laying down the cones and cutting out the beak, the scallop and the beard of the cock. The scallop needs to be simply drawn and cut. To make the beard, it is necessary to cut the workpiece from the two sides of the adjacent tray cells (see photo).

  • Beak of a cock

The following two photos show the principle of manufacturing the beak of our craft. Note that the beak consists of two cones, because our cock should crow!

  • Beak - step 2
  • Beak - step 1

Step 4. Now we begin to form the figure of the cock, namely the head and throat. Glue all the cones, starting from the smallest and ending with the largest by using a hot gun glue. Glue also the beak, the beard and the scallop.

Step 5. Draw and cut out two pieces in the form of wings 15 cm long, then with a gun glue cover them with feathers ... from the same cones.

Step 6. From the lids from the trays, cut out the feathers for the rooster's tail (one feather should have 4 feathers).

Step 7. Let's move on to making a belly-bowl for sweets in the papier-mache technique:

  1. Blow the balloon and cut the strips of white office paper and strips of old newspapers.
  2. Densely cover the entire ball moistened in a glue PVA stripes (the glue can be slightly diluted with water). The first and last layers must necessarily be white. In total there should be at least 4 layers of paper.
  3. The next day, when the paper is completely dry, break the ball and cut the resulting "testicle" into two unequal parts (one half should be slightly larger). Then put a small part in a large one and glue it to make the bowl strong.

  • Wetting paper strips with glue
  • Ball in paper
  • Bowl of papier-mache

Step 8. Attach the head of the cock to the stomach with a cardboard pad (on the inside). With hot glue, glue the wings and tail to the cock's body. Our craft in the form of a cock already looks surprisingly believable!

Step 9. It's time to dye the candy dish. You can choose the shades of paint to your taste, because the roosters are different and do not necessarily seek full realism. Perhaps your cock will be completely beautiful in fully gold plumage? In the same project, brilliant colors were used for the legs, beak, scallop and beard, and for the painting of feathers - pearly.

Paints for coloring the cock

Pay attention to the fact that color transitions on the cockerel are executed smoothly - from pearl white to gold and then to green.

Step 10. In order to ensure greater stability for your sweetie, glue to the bowl any square support and, of course, two legs made of cones with 3 petals. Finally, paint the paws, fill the bowl with sweets and put your handsome man in the most prominent place. Now he is ready to cheer up all the guests at the New Year or Easter table!

Master class 4. A panel with a silhouette of a rooster in the style of Provence

The silhouette of a rooster, painted on crudely inclined old boards, will be an excellent decoration of cuisine in the style of Provence, rustic or country. And a panel with the symbol of 2017 can be an excellent New Year gift. In the next selection of photos are several ideas of such crafts.

Panel with a cock

Materials:

  • Wooden boards of small thickness. In this master class, boards from a pallet (pallet) were used, as well as boards, dismantled from a wooden fruit box. Whichever boards you choose, fresh or old, you must clean and dry them before making crafts.
  • Saw or fret saw.
  • Small nails.
  • A hammer.
  • Stain or acrylic colors of the desired color for the background. If you wish, you can use chalk paints, which are sold ready-made or diluted independently (from acrylic paints with the addition of gypsum). With their help, creating the effect of the old tree will be easier.
  • White acrylic or chalk paint for the silhouette of the cock.
  • Colorless matt primer for wood (preferably).
  • Matte varnish (it is desirable).
  • Brushes.
  • Sandpaper for fine grain.
  • Pencil.
  • Paper.
  • Stationery or knife and scissors.
  • Wax for the tree is transparent or dark (optional).

Instruction:

Step 1. Estimate how many boards you will need to put together a panel of the desired size.

Step 2. Make measurements and cut boards of the same length. Also prepare two smaller boards - they will play the role of crossbeams and connect all the other boards.

Step 3. Fold the main boards face down, align them, then across, put two smaller boards as shown in the photo below. Now, each board nails to the crossbeams.

Panel of wooden boards

Step 4. Clean the surface of the dust, then apply the primer to the primer in 1-2 layers, allowing each layer to dry. This stage is not necessary, because we need a rough and "old" kind of wood and paint, but still a primer is needed if you want to prolong the life of your picture and make it easier to care for it.

Step 5. Now you need to paint the boards, that is, create a background for our cock. To create the effect of faded paint, this project used a water stain of white and blue color, which was applied unevenly. There is another way of staining under the old days: paint the boards with acrylic paint in 1 coat, wait until the paint dries, then wipe the surface with sandpaper in some places or throughout the area.

Step 6. It's time to start making a stencil. If you make a small panel of approximately A4 size or smaller, you can simply print out the image below, having previously adjusted its dimensions in any photo editor. Then you will only have to laminate the paper with transparent tape and cut out the silhouette of the cock with the help of a clerical or breadboard knife. Voila, the stencil is ready!

Silhouette of the cock for stencil making

If you want to make a larger panel, for example, in A3 format, then the picture will have to be printed in two parts (or more). To do this, download the silhouette of the cock to the rasterbator.net site, print out the resulting PDF file, cut out the details, then assemble them as a mosaic. Next, you can laminate the stencil with adhesive tape or transfer the outline of the stencil from the office paper to a denser or laminated paper (see photo).

Stencil

As you can see, on this stencil, in addition to the silhouette of the bird, the French word "Le Coq" is cut out ("cock"). You can repeat this idea or come up with your own signature, for example, "Bon appétit!"

Step 7. Fix the stencil on your panel with paint tape and proceed to paint the silhouette with white paint. When the paint dries, work through some areas of the pattern with fine-grained sandpaper to create the effect of old-fashioned.

Using the stencil

Step 8. Hooray! Almost ready, it remains only to apply a layer of wax on the panel and polish it. Keep in mind that a dark wax will give your panel an even more "frayed" look, while a transparent one will just protect it.

Step 4. Drill a hole 1 cm in diameter at the base of the figure to a depth of approximately 1.5 cm.

Step 5. Drill the same hole in the square base of the cockerel.

Step 6. Now attach the wing to the body of the cock with three finishing nails.
